Where the global economy and its markets are under strain, stated as a distance rather than a mood. A register of watched measures — equity valuation against output, sovereign debt and long rates, credit and financial stress, currency and gold reserves — each tested against the level that has meant something before, with how near it is now and what followed the last time it was there. Published as a free PDF from public data. No login required.
Methodology: every figure is drawn from free, public sources — US Treasury TIC, IMF COFER and IRFCL, the BIS, the ECB, Banco Central do Brasil, FRED and public index levels. Thresholds live in an editable register, not in code: most are percentiles derived from a series’ own history, and the few stated as fixed levels each carry a written reason. History is extended to December 1927 for the benchmark and to 1871 for valuation, because a ten-year window contains one drawdown worth the name; every breach is shown against the unconditional baseline for the same horizon, so a figure only reads as a warning where it actually beats the ordinary case. A measure whose data is missing is reported as unavailable rather than dropped. This report is research and information only — it is not investment advice and not a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Do your own diligence; markets carry risk of loss.
Every edition of the Broken Economy is produced in-house by ABL Digital Technologies and published as a free PDF — no login, no paywall. The most recent edition sits at the top of this page; earlier editions stay available under Historical Reports for as long as they are archived, so you can follow how the picture shifts from one edition to the next. Figures are drawn from public and freely available data sources and refreshed each monthly.
